Mid-sized groups

Mid-sized groups are a great option for those who may not want to be plugged in to a smaller Home Group and find that level of intimacy intimidating.  These mid-sized groups serve as a go-between, a bridge from the larger church group that meets for corporate worship on Sunday to the smaller Home Groups.  They meet around some kind of common interest. For example, NewLife Community Church offers on site Bible Studies that fill that mid-size void.  Other mid-sized groups might include: the Men’s Breakfast, YAC ministry for Young Adults, Junior and Senior High Youth Ministry and Children’s Ministry.  There is also the potential for regional mid-sized groups to gather in outlying areas for mutual encouragement and local outreach to their locale.

Bible studies at the church

NewLife Community Church will host Bible Studies at the Church from time to time with a variety of qualified Bible teachers.  The Bible study leader will select a passage of or book of the Bible to study, examine the text to understand its meaning in context and application to our lives

What is a bible study?

Bible study involves carefully studying passages, analyzing the context, interpreting the meaning, and applying truths to our lives.  We rely on the Scriptures as our source of life, our authority for living.  It is God’s revelation to us.  It provides conviction, direction, guidance and comfort.

Examining, interpreting and applying the scripture

Bible study involves observation, interpretation and application. Carefully examining the text and individual words to determine their original meaning. Considering the historical and cultural context in which it was written to properly interpret the intended meaning.

Bring revelation, conviction, guidance and comfort

There is nothing like the joy of a Bible study that brings illumination, revelation and understanding as the Holy Spirit enlightens our spirit through the Scriptures. The Bible through the Spirit brings conviction of sin which leads to confession and repentance. God’s Word guides us as a light to our pathway by the truth it presents. From it we receive wisdom and knowledge as we make choices along the way.  From the study of God’s Word we receive hope and comfort in the everyday challenges we face.  Bible Study delivers God’s promises and truths that renew us and fill us with joy, meaning and satisfaction.  We count on God’s Word to transform our lives by the power of His Spirit taking that Word and applying it to our hearts and minds.

bible study groups and home group involvement

It is our desire that Church Bible Study Groups become a launching pad for attendees finding their way into a Home Group.  While we see great value in Bible Studies conducted at the Church, we see the great need for people to belong to a committed group of people meeting in a home.  Our Home Groups are more than a Bible Study Group.  Home groups certainly involve studying the Bible as one component of the group that involves, fellowship, prayer and different levels of care as well.
